Texas AEI

The South Texas Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEI) is an initiative to establish broad-based coalitions of financial institutions, community-based organizations and other partners to bring the underbanked and underserved populations into the financial mainstream.

The focus is on expanding basic retail financial services for underserved populations, including savings accounts, affordable remittance products, small-dollar loan programs, targeted financial education programs, alternative delivery channels and other asset-building programs.

AEI helps provide a gateway into the financial mainstream by:

• Enhancing the economic well-being of low- and moderate-income individuals and families, including the underbanked and underserved, by improving access to the U.S. banking system;
• Working with financial institutions and other partners to bring those currently underbanked and underserved into the financial mainstream; and
• Focusing on expanding banking services for underserved markets (e.g., low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, minority communities, rural areas, and immigrant markets) including affordable remittance products, target financial education programs, affordable small-dollar loans, alternative delivery systems and other asset-building programs.
